FOSDEM is the largest Open Source conference on Earth At 8,000+ attendees, it is one of the largest ones by attendee size. It is also the largest one which is completely non-commercial and for the benefit of the Open Source community. And it is the largest one, by far, by the amount of rooms, topics, talks, and speakers. And it's been running for 25 years in a row by now.

Let's talk through what FOSDEM is, how we make it work, and what you can hopefully copy.

This talk introduces the speaker's open source journey, explaining yak shaving as the driving force behind starting various open source projects like Hollo, Fedify, LogTape, Hackers' Pub, Upyo, Optique, and BotKit over the past two years. 세상에는 수많은 오픈소스 AI 모델들이 존재하지만, 정작 그 연산을 수행하는 하드웨어는 대부분 폐쇄적인 구조로 되어 있습니다. 이로 인해 많은 AI 엔지니어들이 모델이 어떻게 동작하는지는 알지만, 실제 연산이 하드웨어에서 어떻게 수행되는지는 직접 볼 수 없습니다. 이번 세션에서는 하드웨어 설계부터 소프트웨어까지 전 과정이 오픈소스로 공개된 Tenstorrent의 CPU와 AI 가속기를 소개하고, 그 개발 과정에서 제가 경험한 인사이트를 공유합니다.

There are countless open-source AI models in the world, but the hardware that actually performs their computations is mostly proprietary. As a result, many AI engineers understand how models work, but cannot directly see how the actual computations are carried out on hardware. In this session, I will introduce Tenstorrent’s CPUs and AI accelerators - whose entire process from hardware design to software is open-sourced - and share insights I gained during their development.

In this session, we will give an overview of the current Taiwan's technical communities and the status, how do they contributions to open source. And also demonstrate how the organizer operates the community and gathers people.

Most of us use a smartphone or in-vehicle navigation system on a daily basis to get directions and estimate our travel time. Geolocation is powered by GPS and other open standards, which are available for anyone to use for free. Map data is open thanks to projects like OpenStreetMap. And open-source routing engines like Valhalla generate high quality routes.

But the process of guiding the user to their destination, step by step, on any device, has long remained the realm of proprietary, vendor-locked software. This talk is about my journey building a credible open-source alternative, why we're building it in Rust, and the successes (and failures!) of running a community project with corporate involvement.

This speech presents a solution to common collaboration challenges like disjointed workflows and version control issues. We will introduce ONLYOFFICE Docs, an open-source office suite designed for seamless and secure teamwork.

In this talk, the speaker will discuss the challenges commonly faced when first getting involved in open source, based on his own experiences contributing to the Linux kernel, and how those challenges can be overcome. The main topics include:
• Difficulties during the first contribution: The obstacles one faces when making an initial contribution, such as understanding complex code and finding suitable issues to work on.
• Becoming part of the community through continuous contributions: How consistent participation helps a developer grow, collaborate effectively, and gradually find their place within the open-source community.
• Open-source contributions at the company level: Why companies participate in open source and how such contributions are made in a professional setting.

Accessibility isn't separate from good Android development—it's part of it. When we build with accessibility in mind from the start, our apps become more robust and our product elevates to the next level.

Throughout this session, I'd like to introduce an OSS project, called OpenChat Playground that connects virtually any LLM regardless it's commercial or non-commercial.

The Linux kernel is one of the largest and most active open-source projects, but its massive codebase and unique development culture create a high barrier to entry for newcomers. While many guides focus on the technical methodology of sending the first patch (like using git send-email), beginners often feel lost about how to build expertise and contribute sustainably afterward.

I propose to present a beginner's contribution guide focused on the Linux kernel security domain within the Operating Systems and Distributions track. This talk will be based on existing materials (e.g., LKCamp tutorials and DebConf etherpad notes) but will be enhanced with practical tips from my own experience in kernel security activities, reframing the discussion using the security subsystem as a case study for analysis and participation. The format will be a Lightning Talk covering how to overcome beginner hurdles, analysis methods, and engagement strategies, emphasizing the use of the staging tree and security-related TODO lists.

This lightning talk covers some lessons I've learned of contributing to and maintaining open-source projects for the past 20 years. Contributor onboarding is often quite painful, but some projects do a much better job than others. Listeners will hear practical improvements that every maintainer can adopt, and will help new projects launch with the right framework to build a vibrant community.
