Portable Software, 1983

Discuss on software developments for computers in the 1980s based on my personal experience of the first 10 years in Korea.

Korea was not ready to develop system softwares, then. My task is to lead development of the computers (컴퓨터 국산화 Project); microcomputer, minicomputer, and the mainframe computers at Korea Institute of Electronics Technology (1979-1982), followed by computer science professors at SNU and KAIST. I was thinking on portable software, open source software, free software,.. then. DOS for microcomputers, and UNIX for minicomputers as well as software tools were primary candidates in the 1980s. Richard Stallman visited KAIST in the 1980s. He is a super programmer, and was promoting "free software" such as GNU Project.

Will comment on AI and open software, next. Will also comment on the related topics including AI, Creative Commons, (Open Source) Hardware, and Software Maintenance.
